The Law Society is continuing to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation and, based on advice from government and health authorities, taking all required action to protect the health and wellbeing of members of the profession, Law Society staff, and anyone accessing 170 Phillip Street.
In addition to Monday Briefs, the Law Society will be sending out a daily e-news to all members with the latest on the ongoing situation with Covid-19. Please watch out for the “Daily Update – COVID-19” newsletter which will arrive in your inbox each afternoon.
The Law Society has decided to temporarily suspend all events at 170 Phillip Street, effective immediately. This will include the delivery of any face-to-face continuing professional development (CPD) seminars and third-party events.
All mediation and arbitration services on Level 12 have been suspended until 30 April 2020. All existing bookings will be contacted to discuss cancellation or to make alternative arrangements.
The Dining Room on Level 2, the Library, Shop and Visiting Solicitor Meeting Rooms on Level 1 are currently closed until further notice. Items can still be purchased via the eShop and we will continue to provide as many Library services as possible. Library books can be dropped off at our Reception on Level 3.
The Pro Bono Scheme has temporarily suspended operations. Applications already received will be processed.
The ever-changing situation presented by COVID-19 or coronavirus requires all members of the community to be vigilant in relation to their own health and safety.
We have installed hand sanitiser units throughout the building, and we encourage people entering and leaving 170 Phillip Street to use them.
If you have travelled through (including transit) Mainland China, Iran, Italy, South Korea, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore and Thailand in the past 14 days, have come into direct contact with or live with someone who has, we respectfully request, as part of our COVID-19 precautionary measures, that you do not enter the Law Society premises at 170 Phillip Street, Sydney.
If this applies to you, please call your Law Society contact or Reception on 02 9926 0333 once you have left our premises to reschedule your meeting.
